Early Life and Career

Longoria attended Texas A&M-Kingsville, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. After graduating from college, she entered a talent contest that brought her to Los Angeles, where she was spotted and subsequently signed by a theatrical agent. “I was in beauty pageants and I did a lot of music videos and things in Texas. I did a lot of modeling, a lot of print modeling. So, I’ve always been in front of a camera. When I came to L.A. with IMTA, which is the International Modeling and Talent Association, they do a talent search and that is how I found my agent. The first day they signed me I had four auditions. It was pretty fast and the fact that I’ve done this in three years seems fast.”
She was determined to see where her acting dreams would take her. Her persistence has certainly paid off. After landing roles on “Bold and the Beautiful, General Hospital, and co-starring on Beverly Hills, 90210, she auditioned and won the role of Isabella on the popular soap opera Young and the Restless. “I met Marnie Saitta, the Y&R casting director, in a workshop a year ago and then I took her class about six months before the part was being cast. Then she called my agent and said, ‘We have this part for a Latin, twenty-five-year-old, sexy woman and we want to see Eva.’ I wasn’t even submitted on this audition by my agent. Marnie called and said, ‘We want to see Eva.’ I came and there were about two hundred people. Then it was narrowed down over a period of about three months. Then they rewrote and didn’t know if they were going to use that storyline. We didn’t know what they were going to do. Actually, it was all happening over the Christmas holidays so they said, ‘Oh, we’re not going to do anything until after Christmas.’ By the time everyone got back, they called and said we want to screen test her. I came and screen tested with six girls, six completely different choices.” She left the soap in 2003 after her character was sent to an insane asylum.
After Young and the Restless, she was on the Dick Wolf revival of Dragnet in 2003. Following Dragnet, she starred in Señorita Justice, a poorly received direct-to-video film, and a television film titled The Dead Will Tell (2004).
Longoria got her big professional break in 2004 playing the role of Gabrielle Solis in the television series Desperate Housewives. She also starred opposite Michael Douglas and Kiefer Sutherland in the thriller The Sentinel (2006), which was her first major role in a theatrical movie. Amid rumors of an affair and refuting cheating claims by gossip sites, Longoria filed for divorce from Parker in Los Angeles, citing “irreconcilable differences” on November 17, 2010. In the divorce petition, Longoria, who had taken Parker’s last name, requested her maiden name be restored and also sought spousal support from Parker. On November 19, 2010, Parker filed for divorce from Longoria in Bexar County, Texas on the grounds of “discord or conflict of personalities”, thus establishing a legal battle over where the divorce case would be heard. Unlike Longoria’s divorce petition, Parker’s did not mention a prenuptial agreement and claimed that the parties would “enter into an agreement for the division of their estate”. The divorce was finalized in Texas on January 28, 2011, the same day Longoria’s lawyer filed papers to dismiss her Los Angeles petition.
Shortly after filing for divorce, Longoria began dating Eduardo Cruz, the brother of actress Penelope Cruz. They broke up briefly in March 2012 before getting back together in April 2012.
